Bible Geocoding

Came across this site which I thought was very cool. Using Googlemaps, it shows the location of every identifiable place in the Bible.

I already checked but couldn’t see Eden! Some places in Revelation are quite interesting.

Chronological snobbery in worship

If the only type of music you employ in a worship service is old, you inadvertently communicate that God was more active in the past than he is in the present.

If the only type of music you employ in a worship service is new, you inadvertently communicate that God is more active in the present than he was in the past.

About Key Colour

“Key colour” is absent in equal temperament (ie guitars with straight frets). As all its intervals are equal, the blend of intervals is the same in every key, so all keys sound alike. “Key colour” is a feature of temperaments with unequal intervals. Before equal temperament came along in the mid 19th century, “Key Colour” – also known as “Key Character”, or, in German, “Affekt” – was a familiar and generally accepted part of musical expression. By Beethoven’s day, the concept of “Key Character” (in which different keys conveyed specific emotional meanings), was much refined. A widely read and influential list of keys and their affective qualities, written by Christian Friedrich Daniel Schubart and published posthumously in 1806, contained the fashionable descriptions for all major and minor keys.” from “Six Degrees Of Tonality – The Well Tempered Piano” by Edward Foote.

Song: Monkey

Most people think you have a brain in your head. This is not true; you have a tree. Every leaf on this tree is memory.  The keeper of this tree is called Fred. When you need to remember something, you tell Fred what you need to think about and he goes scurrying away up the tree to find the appropriate leaf. He then brings the leaf to you so you can read it and remember the memory.

Thoughts on Jesus’s relationship with God

I read Luke 2:52 and pondered.

“And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man”

Jesus grew in favour with God. Does this mean Jesus’s relationship with God developed and matured? What does that say about the construction of the Trinity? I wonder if this is like the parable of the talents – to those who some is given, more will be given after they have shown to be obedient.

Regardless, it’s a strong example that we need to grow!
